PAYSAGES, Baie de Beaussais-sur-Mer, France, 2017

Paysages littéraires, œuvres littorales et inondables

Paysages

L'auteur Xavier Pierre pour la liberté d'interprétation qu'il m'a laissée;

Paysages

The Baie de Beaussais, in Brittany, is a natural bay, where the sea and the tide play with the land, where the sky varies over time, unfolding its shapes and colors, with the wind’s whim.

From excerpts of texts by the Breton author Xavier Pierre, I produced artworks to be exhibited in this place, in order to create a dialogue between images, words and landscape. The landscape is lived / read / seen / interpreted : it becomes plural. The artworks invite the gaze to explore a space of forms and words, then to leave the frame: the landscape is discovered literally and figuratively.

These are «coastal» works: at high tide, they are partially submerged and the water bears their reflections, moving with the waves.

For a whole summer, they have been moved according to the movements of water and time. These works live with the passage of time and the sea. Then they migrate, and land elsewhere.

For further information :

These works were the subject of an article in the proceedings of the conference Représenter les territoires,  session 6 « Territ’arts », from the Collège international des sciences du territoire (CIST), organized at the University of Rouen Normandie: « Lecture et décadrage du paysage littoral: approches sensibles par deux pratiques artistiques », 2018.
